We don't want to completely minimise the context because the result 
could be quite huge (no tags), but minimising to the latest common tag 
sounds fairly sane and easy to do.

This would make it easy to apply patches that are sent against repos 
that are more advanced than ours, but which don't necessarily depend on 
those advancements.
