I send you this in case it has not yet been reported.
Note that this occurs in a case where "darcs check" previously reports
an error "can't read patch ..."

Is this a partial repository, then? Or do you have an idea why the patch
can't be read?

Not exactly, but I may have screwed something some time back. Since
there were very few patches in this repo I have moved _darcs to
_darcs_old and reinitialized it. It would be nice if darcs would me more
verbose when giving the error message "can't read patch", but I assume
this is already on your TODO list ;)

BTW, is there currently a way to customize darcs so that the dist
command produces a zip file instead of a tarball?

Thanks for your nice work on darcs. This and the Perl6 implementation
pugs have even aroused my interest enough to read a short introduction
to Haskell, which I enjoyed, even though I have not yet written any
program in this language.

Best,
Francois Charette

Francois,

I'm closing this issue now because there is no further information to proceed
and you mentioned yourself that you have might have messed something up on your
end.

Regarding your question about "darcs dist" making a zip file. That would have
been good to ask on the "darcs-user" list.

I don't think there's a way to make a zip file that's built in. You could write
a command to be run via the "posthook" feature thatn would unpack the tgz file
and re-pack it as a zip file. By saving this function in your preference file,
the appearance would in fact be that "darcs dist" is creating a zip file for you
each time...it would just take slightly longer. :)
