Thanks for the continued follow-up on this bug. It sounds important. I
recall both that there was a ".gz" fix committed and I believe an
automated test for it, too. Pursuing the angle that this is the result
of a bug which formerly existed but is not currently in Darcs 2 seems
interesting to pursue.
Otherwise, reviewing or creating a reduced test to try to trigger it
would be interesting.
