Thanks for your continued investigation into this. 

Since we seem to have isolated the bug, and it can't be reproduced with the
current darcs, and we know there was a fix made for this in a recent past, but
possibly after your repo got into this state, it seems reasonable that the bug
can be "presumed-dead".

So, I would be comfortable considering this bug resolved now. If there would be
a final thing to do, it would be to examine the repo and determine that it is
indeed corrupt somehow in relation to this, and not the the repo is OK, but
darcs is still buggy.
