For what it is worth, as a user I prefer the simpler and more predictable
behavior of storing and using everything until I clear it out with /bin/rm -rf
~/.darcs/cache.

One question mark is what happens when there are too many files in the cache for
the underlying filesystem to handle smoothly.  As long as the resulting failure
is clean and apparent-to-the-user, then it is okay.
