provide us with legal advice of some sort and (b) handle donations (preferably
as a registered charity in several countries).

Let the mothership take care of the weird fluffy stuff so that we can get on
with hacking.

FSC has already offered membership, and seems much less onerous and
controlling than GNU...

I hadn't even heard of the FSC until kowey told me about them, but
they seem to have a useful service and their list of associated
projects includes several big projects.

Therefore +1, at least to discussing details with the FSC.

Ok, so apparently I have inverted the name.  It's the Software Freedom
Conservancy we want to join.
