feature request: update "number of patches remaining" in light of
constraints

If I'm doing a pull -v, and I've said "no", that I won't take patch p1, then it
would be nice if the "number of patches remaining" number were updated to count
only patches that are still possible without p1.

I think that might be a bit confusing.  Perhaps an interface like this can meet
the same need?
