Would it be possible to make these repositories available for us, as
tarballs?

tar with the two repositories (scriptsC1 and scriptsC2).
Unfortunately I did not make a copy of the scriptsC2 repository before pulling in 
the changes (from the second computer).
Just unpulling a patch or two does not reproduce the problem (it synchronizes 
successfully also from c1).

Thanks for the report. I tried the test repos but you sent, but as you said they
have been synchronized. There is not much else we can do without a reproducible
test case to work. 

You also helpfully mentioned two other bugs which may be the same thing:

516	"pull incorrectly reports no new patches"	
355	"Push A to B fails, pull B to A works"

I'm going to mark this bug as "duplicate", assuming it is the same as one of these. 

I don't think there's much else we can do on your specific case without a set of
repos which exhibit the issue.
