Thanks for the bug report, Eric.  I'm pushing a fix now.

I built my own copy of darcs, and I'm getting the error below about not finding
the inventory.  I checked, darcs changes | grep issue648, but no matches were found.

I'm not sure that the patch mentioned causes the problem after all.

On second thought, I misread the bug report.

I'm now looking at how to get a working darcs into my home directory
so I can send patches again.

Jason, 

Are you saying that you believe the bug is fixed now, but you have a
bootstrapping problem because you can't download the patches to recompile to get
the fix now? 

Try one of the pre-release darcs2 binaries from the wiki if that's the case.

recent builds of darcs-unstable are working over http for me now, so I'm
considering this resolved. Please re-open if you find otherwise.
