I run darcs on several machines.
* ubuntu - darcs 1.0.9rc1
* gentoo - darcs 1.0.9

both machines have openssh up and running.

from ubuntu :
darcs get me@gentoo:/path

asks for my password and then get the stuff.

from gentoo to ubuntu : fails
from gentoo to gentoo : fails too.

the failure :
it asks from my password several times and then :

Invalid repository:  me@host:/path
darcs failed:  (scp) failed to fetch: me@host:/path/_darcs/inventory

When I do it with passwordless ssh (with ssh-agent), same error.

When I put a wrong path, the error is the same.

Attached, the logs of :
scp -v -v -v -r me@host:/path .

damnit. now I'm at home and it works.

I don't understand what's going on. I will test again tomorrow at work and
see if I can reproduce the issue or if I'm simply too dumb. sorry for that.

ok, nevermind. I could not reproduce the bug. It must have been some kind of
mess with my passwordless ssh setup. sorry for all the noise.

girodt, I'm marking this as resolved, as you seem to consider it to have been a
mistaken report.  If that's in incorrect interpretation, let us know.  And
thanks for the bug report, even though it didn't turn out to be our fault!
