Hi Florian, I'm splitting this off from issue1473.  Perhaps you'd also be
interested in fixing this?  It should give a proper user-friendly error message
and not some kind of Haskell error.

This seems to have been fixed already.

darcs failed:  Annotate requires either a patch pattern or a file or 
directory argument.

I can confirm that darcs annotate --repodir /myrepo '' fails on darcs-
2.4.4 and succeeds in a darcs-2.7

We could do with a test case to close this ticket (and also some pinning, 
does it work with released darcs-2.5.1?)
