Trying to amend a patch to change its name with

> darcs amend-record --index 7 -m "A new patch-name"

works as if --index were ignored (the same for --index=7 and -n 7).

Any luck making a test case for this?  Or would you like somebody else 
to take over?

Once you have the test case, it'd be great if you could try with the 
beta for Darcs 2.5 (cabal install darcs-beta), but I'd get the test case 
first to be sure :-)

BTS training: keep in mind the (i) regression (ii) test case (iii) 
diagnosis checklist.  Here, (iii) should be fairly trivial, cf 
issue1290, which I'm hoping but not counting on being the same bug.

In my opinion as a darcs user, if this problem won't be solved for 2.5
release --index should be removed from the list of amend-record supported
arguments.

If finally some rewriting of Darcs.SelectChanges is done in order to support
--index, it would be a feature in a future release.
