I'm reluctantly sticking this in "in-discussion" for now, because I don't 
really want to introduce segfaults into our test suite, even if they 
aren't our fault.

Setting status back to in-discussion.  It was needs-review, but this patch 
is not in the screened repository and I don't see any discussion about 
gh's segfault concerns.

Owen pointed out that the segfault problem has already been resolved.  
Accepting.

To push this patch elsewhere, push "Patch 598 dependencies" which bundles 
both necessary patches together.
